UPN's Shockwave Cinema is a Science Fiction HootAirtight's ancestry is film noir, full of shadows and backlighting and scuzzy sets. Costumes are straight out of the 40's, with women in cloche hats and men in bow ties. People say things like "fit tighter than a wetsuit on a Sumo wrestler," and when Rat persuades his fellow officers to join in his crusade I half expected him to ask them to "win one for the Gipper." Whether the upcoming offerings will be as much fun remains to be seen, but so far it's been a hoot! So, if you're stuck home on a Friday night and Now and Again isn't on and you have cable, check listings to see if Shockwave Cinema is running. Grab a big bowl of popcorn, kick off your shoes, turn down the lights and enjoy the new version of the Friday Night Frights. According to the UPN Web site, on December 3 Ron Perlman will be battling man-eating baboons on a desert island. Shockwave Cinema is on UPN Fridays beginning at 8 Eastern.
