X-Men Cast Grows
Brian Singer's long-awaited X-Men project is being populated at a steady pace. Joining Patrick Stewart (as Professor X) and Ian McKellan (as Magneto) are Anna Paquin, Oscar-winner for The Piano and Dougray Scott, the cutie from Ever After. Paquin will take on the job of Rogue, while Scott will handle the emotionally volatile Wolverine. Newcomer Tyler Mane, who's a pro wrestler in his other life, will be Wolverine's archenemy Sabretooth. For those not into X-info, Rogue is a teenager who can absorb the superpowers of anyone she touches, while Wolverine comes equipped with a steel-reinforced skeleton and retractible steel claws. They are two members of a group of mutant superheroes who operate under the direction and aegis of the telepathic Professor X. Will the Shue Still Fit? Elisabeth Shue tore an Achilles tendon while working out, which could mean she'll be leaving the cast of Paul Verhoeven's take on The Invisible Man, The Hollow Man. So much for the benefits of exercise. Verhoeven is currently shooting around her scenes, hoping she'll recover in time and won't have to be replaced. Shue plays a scientist who helps her fellow researcher and former lover, played by Kevin Bacon, discover an invisibility serum. Naturally, he tries the stuff out on himself, so Shue and her co-workers have to try to find a way to bring him back to light. Been there, done that, and Bacon will never be Claude Rains. Leo Rumored Up For Anakin The rumors are flying about who will take over the job of being Anakin Skywalker in the next two parts of the Star Wars prequel, and the good money seems to be on Leonardo deCaprio. As usual, no one is saying anything, and Leo has already agreed to participate in an upcoming Howard Hughes biopic, so who knows. DiCaprio certainly has the talent, as anyone who's seen What's Eating Gilbert Grape and Romeo and Juliet can attest. The question from this point of view would seem to be whether or not doing Anakin would be enough of a challenge. After all, it isn't like he needs to be in Star Wars to boost his career. Blade II Script Passes On Attention, Blade fans! Your dessert is almost ready. David Goyer has reportedly written "30" to the script for the sequel, placing it in the eager hands of the folks at New Line Cinema. The Marvel web site reports a director will likely be selected by the end of June, with shooting to begin either this fall or early next year. Go To Page: 1 2
