The Remnant Church and Its Mission

The concept of a "Remnant Church" can lead to feelings of exclusivity and isolationism. This is not the intention of the belief by Seventh-day Adventists in a Remnant Church. Seventh-day Adventists believe that the universal church is made up of all those who truly believe in Christ. However, we also believe that in the last days prior to Jesus' Second Coming there will be a "calling out" or separation of those from the mainstream religious teachings. These people who have separated from traditional and mainstream teachings will proclaim Christ's Coming as symbolized by the three angels in Revelation 14. Those who separate from the mainstream will come from all denominations and belief systems and will unite as one Remnant Church. "This remnant announces the arrival of the judgment hour, proclaims salvation through Christ, and heralds the approach of His second advent. ... It coincides with the work of judgment in heaven and results in a work of repentance and reform on earth. Comparison with Other Denominations

Here are the resource links for several denominations that give the complete statement of their belief about the Remnant and Its Mission. In some cases, I could not find a specific statement that correlated with this particular belief statement. Baptist - The Southern Baptist Council makes this statement in an evangelistic outreach pamphlet about their stance on the Remnant Church: "The church consists of the body of believers in Christ. It is the body of Christ in which the gospel is proclaimed, Christians are nurtured in their faith, and gifts of the Spirit are exercised. Church of God - It appears that a number of Church of God groups add the term "Remnant" to their congregation name. However, I was unable to find a specific statement concerning the entire Church of God and their view of a "Remnant Church."
