Growing in Christ

The Eleventh Fundamental Belief, Growing in Christ, is a newly adopted belief coming out of the Seventh-day Adventist 2005 General Conference Session recently held in St. Louis, Missouri. Building on the statement about Salvation, this belief personalizes that salvation within each individual's life. At the cross, Jesus triumphed over all the evil forces and at our acceptance of Him into our own lives we share in that victory over evil and all the demons and Satan himself. With Him as Lord of our life and the Holy Spirit ruling our heart, we are freed from our burdens of past sin and are truly made new and find new reason each day to be joyful in the Lord's grace and to witness to others of His love and peace. We study, pray, gather together, and act as His missionaries. We now live in the light of truth, do not fear evil powers, and are free to live under Jesus' loving guidance. "In this new freedom in Jesus, we are called to grow into the likeness of His character, communing with Him daily in prayer, feeding on His Word, meditating on it and on His providence, singing His praises, gathering together for worship, and participating in the mission of the Church. As we give ourselves in loving service to those around us and in witnessing to His salvation, His constant presence with us through the Spirit transforms every moment and every task into a spiritual experience."
