In this third part and conclusion of the series of articles, "A More Detailed Look at the Trinity," we will be studying the Seventh-day Adventist beliefs concerning God the Holy Spirit. This series is a continued study of the article, "Who Do Seventh-day Adventists Worship - One God in the Entity of the Trinity." I will not include detailed comparisons of other denominations in this article. Please refer to the article on the Trinity, http://www.suite101.com/article.cfm/seve... for comparison link references.

The Holy Spirit

Seventh-day Adventists believe that God, the Holy Spirit worked in conjunction with God the Father and God the Son to create this world and is currently working with them to complete God's plan of redemption. We believe He is the source of inspiration for the writers of the Bible and that He had the especially important work of empowering Jesus while He was on earth in human form. The Holy Spirit is that inner voice we know as our conscience through which God speaks to us. He is the Comforter and Counselor, sent by God the Father and God the Son to be with us here on earth. He is the extends spiritual gifts to the church, empowers us, as humans, to bear witness to Jesus Christ, and helps us study and understand the Holy Scriptures that will ultimately lead us into understanding the truth. Biblical Verification

The biblical basis for this, the Fifth Fundamental Belief of the Seventh-day Adventist Church is found in the following Scriptures. Quotations are from the New International Version.

Genesis 1:1, 2 "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters."

Luke 1:35; 4:18 "The angel answered, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God." "The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed,"

Acts 10:38 "how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with him."
