The Son

Seventh-day Adventists believe that Jesus is the human incarnation of God the Son. While retaining His eternal characteristics He also became fully human. He was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. As a human, He experienced human life including temptation and by so doing, He became the perfect example of how we, as humans, can obey God's laws. We believe He was the promised Messiah of the Old Testament and manifested His power as God through performing miracles while He was here on earth. We believe He created all things and that He reveals the true character of God in a way that we, as humans, can comprehend God as accurately as we are capable and thereby receive the gift of salvation through our faith in God. We believe Jesus will ultimately judge our world when He returns the second time. We believe that He went to His death on the cross voluntarily so that He might draw all of humanity to Him through this ultimate expression of love and that we are saved of our sins when we come to Him and accept His forgiveness. We believe He triumphed over death when He rose from the dead and returned to Heaven to prepare a place for those who believe in Him. We believe He is in Heaven now, retaining His human form, and is ministering in the heavenly sanctuary in our behalf. We believe that when He returns He will reveal His complete glory and deliver all of His people from this world and take them to live with Him in Heaven and ultimately create the world anew free from sin.
