Holiday Safety

Now that the Holidays are upon us, we have to be think more about being pet safe.

Tagert just turned three last August. Well this year he has discovered that the Christmas tree looks very interesting, even though in the past he did not care about it.

This year I have had to treat him the same way I would a child.

First He thinks tinsel is Yummy. So I took all the tinsel off the tree.

He keeps looking at the ornaments, so they went higher up on the tree, also out of tail reach.

Presents were moved because they became something to sniff and move around.

We don't have poinsettias, but I do know they are very dangerous to pets. Most dogs and cats want to investigate and eat them because they smell sweet.

Make sure the garland is not an issue either. All animals like shiny things.

Mistletoe is something to be careful with. If you have it, make sure it is hung up and won't fall down.

Be careful of food trays. I know we have our dogs trained to leave food alone in case of medication complications, and Tagert has never had people food except for hotdogs. But the smells can be tempting, even to us.

If you use candles in your holidays, make sure they are out of tail wagging range and height.

We always tell our friends to have a safe and happy holiday. We need to include our pets too. It would not be a happy one with out them too.

HAPPY HOLIDAY TO ONE AND ALL & HAVE A HAPPY NEW YEAR.
