May I Pet Your Service Dog? Funny Answers

Well here we go again. Since my first article was the serious side of "What Do You Say To The Public," I had to go tell the funny side of it too. I have become outraged occasionally with people because they say the dumbest things, mostly to the embarrassment of themselves. I had one lady acutely jab her husband sharply in the ribs and say, "Honey there is a dog in the store." Well , I could not help myself. I looked right at her and rattled for a good three minutes in a tone of voice so all that heard her could here me, saying. " A dog? Where is that dog? I swear every time I go somewhere I hear someone saying there is a dog in the store but I can never find it. Next time you see that dog, let me know will you, I want to see it. Now, mind you, Tagert's leash was on my arm and he was at sit-stay right at my feet. I had, on another occasion, a gentleman yell, " Is that a dog in the store?" as he was jumping in the air and running the other way. I quickly said, " I see you did not go to Kindergarten and learn, cat, dog, cow, horse; and your mother did not teach you about manners either. My response got laughs and claps from all those around us.

My niece was between four and five when we visited Yellowstone and stayed at the Lodge. "No dogs," "no pets" was posted everywhere. After explaining, at length, to staff at the main desk while she waited patiently once more at my side, all about the ADA and Service Dogs...We started for our room only to be stopped, abruptly, by in-house security. She is a patient and quiet little girl, but geeze everyone has their limits! The man was trying to seize my dog or my arm? when from out of nowhere, she jumped between the Security Officer and Cocoa, the Service Dog. With both hands on her hips and exclaims in a tone that meant business she exclaimed; "THIS is NOT a DOG! It's Cocoa, she is a SERVICE animal. We just explained all that! " I told him to check with the desk. We made it to our
