Part of the process of getting further away from mainstream society and all of it's downfalls is attempting to take more responsibility for our income. Home business has enjoyed a boom of late, and with the introduction of the internet it's popularity continues to increase. Parents are bringing their work home in an effort to spend more time with their children, stay at home mothers are utilising art and craft skills to pursue part time creative ventures and even younger adults are getting in on the act with online opportunities.
If you are interested in a home business, there are countless opportunities available to you. As for any business, you will need a thourough knowledge of your chosen path, however in my opinion enjoyment is the key. What is the point of doing something you don't like? You will be stuck in the same old grind, the only difference being your geographical location. Everyone has some talent, a skill, an interest that can spark off a small home based business to provide you with some or even all of your income. Get rich quick schemes are out, avoid them like the plague. If you are on a life changing path to self reliance, you will understand that simplicity is what it's all about and working your tail off to get rich is completely missing the point. The aim that I am trying to get across may mean less income, but it also means less work, less stress and more freedom and satisfaction. I sell birdhouses. They are designed, handmade and painted by me. With three small children, my time is minimal so this is not a big business with a high turnover, but a business it is. It provides me with a creative outlet, a chance to meet new people and so far has been an excellent alternative to working outside of the home. Any creative skill can be turned into an income, however small. If you are skilled in the area of craft, art, woodwork, metalwork, sewing or countless others there exists the opportunity to earn some money from your work. People are always looking for handmade items these days, and selling directly from home is a great way to capatalise on your talents, and with the internet, mail order is a real option available to anyone. If you can write, there are also opportunities for paid freelance writing right here in cyberspace. Granted, you would have to put in some serious hours if you wish to earn a wage, but it allows you to work right at home from your computer, giving you the freedom to work at times when it suits you, like late at night when the kids are in bed. At the bottom of this article I have included links to writing sites, most of which have paying markets to get you started. This kind of work requires you to be a little resourceful, and don't think you need all of your income from one place. A few different assignment from a few different places and suddenly the small amounts add up to a much nicer monthly figure.
