Where Technology Meets Publishing

I would like to divert a little bit this month and discuss a topic that will change the face of publishing over the next few years. Many of you who visit this site are considering self-publishing...or at least toying with idea. I know that you have probably come up with several questions in your trek. One of those questions might be: How can I get my book published without spending too much money AND without starting my own publishing company?

Your answer just might lie in the hands of someone like Bradley Kirland, CEO of the Writers Club. Self-publishing is re-inventing itself and it's people like Bradley Kirkland who are making it happen. The Writers Club has teamed up with XEROX to provide an on-line/on-demand publishing service for writers.

For as little as $350 (for members) or $450 (for non-members), writers can have their books ready in less than 8 weeks from receipt of a manuscript.

As Bradley explains, the goal of this service is "essentially to allow people to self-publish without spending thousands of dollars on production, distribution, and fulfillment." The Writers Club-Xerox partnership will now provide on-demand printing, anywhere in the world. The WC publishing group performs the duties of book registration, production, and distribution, while the author concentrates on the writing and promoting.

In just three months since the launch of this new service, The Writers Club has signed up over 60 authors with 12 of those authors currently "live" on the WC bookshelf. In addition to publishing, the Writers Club has a 10-year community base, which provides courses, mentors, memberships, articles, databases, live chats, and message boards - EVERYTHING a writer needs, from concept to sale.

So, how does one get started with this on-line/on-demand service? First, visit the Writers Club on-line/on-demand publishing site. Read through their FAQs page and I can ensure you that your questions will be answered there. And if you're not completely satisfied at the FAQs area, contact Bradley direct at info@writersclub.com.
