Fearless Living

Defeat freezes, as our basic assumption upon life is to win obstacles. Sometimes, though, life is not so giving. Rather, it takes away our wishes and desires. We, then, must focus on our hopes instead of wishes and desires.

Hope keeps us afloat in the midst of a fearful ocean. It gives us strength and compassion. It gives us love and care that we need the most.

Defeat, however, still exists. It haunts and tries to tackle us down. To me, defeat is a part of life. It is not a mystery. Rather, it is a testing ground. I used to cry over defeats and trials. Now I can smile from ear to ear, "Just try me!"

I smile because I know I will eventually defeat defeats. I will eventually come around and be stronger, brighter and more resourceful than ever. Defeat is my teacher in life, in the University of Life.

I admit that most of the times I don't like how it feels to be defeated. I feel betrayed by my own self. But, isn't that we feel when we're in school? We often dislike the teachers and the subjects and all of the consequences. Yet when we graduate, we are grateful to them. We're grateful because they provide us with an opportunity to prove ourselves, to learn and to gain from adversities.

Now I am a friend to Defeats. I've better be, because I'll be grateful when it leaves me some day. []

This article is dedicated to all my friends who are in adversities. Put a smile on your face and let's move on. Every adversity is temporary.
