Internet, My Ticket to Self-Empowerment

Apr 7, 2001 - © Jennie S. Bev

know how to keep their promise. Lesson five.

The Person I Am Today

From those five important lessons, I found a fountain of possibilities. The Internet has a very huge potential to change people's life. How we play the Internet game is what matters. It is a window to the whole wide world, if we use it wisely. It can become a window to see what are hidden inside us, if we use it more wisely.

My encounter with Internet technology is like going home to my own private space. It is a virtual one technologically, but it is as true and as real the one that I go to every end of day. How to make a simple Internet access and a mindless PC meaningful, thus, is what we all need in order to make the greatest discovery of what we are able to achieve and to become.

In these short two years, the Internet has taught me several important lessons. First, I don't need to seek far and wide for something that is already inherent. Second, if I use technology wisely, I can achieve greatly. Third, the world is not a lonely place to be and sharing what we know is probably the best way to get and retain lasting friendship. Fourth, life is full of surprises. Fifth, the world is the largest university of all. When you lose, you are actually gaining new understanding of how the universe truly evolves.

It is true that technology changes the whole society. It changes the way we live, the way we communicate and the way we empower ourselves. Technology will always progress and so do I. The Internet robots will always be crawling. I, probably, will always be looking for opportunities hidden in the midst of high-tech jungle too.

I might not be the only person whose life was changed by technology. I might not be the only person who wandered around on the Web and be empowered instantly. Yet I might be different from other fellow technology users because, to me, technology is more than an instrument to work faster, more reliably and more professionally. It is a self-replicating mentor from whom I can see myself clearly; understand what my potentials are and how we can make a difference in other people's lives simply through being a genuine self.

Me and technology. Me and Internet. And the power of sharing. Quite a combination.
