If a diagnosis of syncope has been made with appropriate treatment, a person suffering from cardiovascular syncope can often resume normal activities without fear of having another episode. Treatment may eliminate the syncope and also treat the potentially life-threatening cardiovascular cause, thereby improving a person's overall quality of life.
I personally know of three people who had been diagnosed as having epilepsy that responded to the loop recorder and are now living normal and productive lives. The latest is a 17 year old teenager who had been on medication since she was little and achieved no success with traditional therapy. After having the Insertable Loop Recorder she is now free of medication and has obtained her drivers license. In her case the heart beat was slowing down at such an extensive rate it was bring about her episodes. Another young man, it was shown, had a heart that was stoping for up to 30 seconds which was causing him to have tonic-clonic like episodes. He recived a pace maker and has been fine ever since.
