Psychic siezures are one of the hardest to diagnose of all siezure disorders. It takes the form of emotional instability and is usually diagnosed as a mental disorder. People instinctively appear in a psychologist office assuming it is of that nature because of what they experience. Children and teenagers are diagnosed as haveing a behavioral problem and treated with medications which worsen the situation.
These siezures will cause distortion on reality and mixed up thoughts. Emotional outburst of anger or fear are common with these as well.
These siezures come on as quickly as they leave and often the person is not really aware of what happened or sees it in a totally different light. Most medications worsen the situation because they often alter moods.
The person usually will have emotions which are irrational to others around them and be out of control in handeling what they feel. It is a very difficult thing for family and friends to accept and even harder to live with. It is important to find a doctor who can effectively decide if it is indeed a siezure which causes this. Many people have been on medications for years in an attempt to control various degrees of psychological disorders only to find out it was actually epilepsy.
Once there has been a diagnosis of partial siezures it is often easy for a doctor to pick up on these types of siezures. Family as well can soon distinguish the difference also, by thier nature.
Consider this as a possibility if you or someone you know has behavior which is out of the norm. It is quite possible that this may be happening and bring it up to your doctor as a possibility.
