Xbox Impressions - Week 1

Nov 29, 2001 - © Ryan Newman

Munche’s Odysee: A great title that is getting ragged on because of the way it controls. Practice makes perfect in this case and about 5-10 minutes with the controls goes a long way. I don’t know why so many people complained, I had little to no difficulty with them and Munch is a great addition. The humor is still there, the action is and it’s just a good title. Whenever the action gets stale (I, personally, never felt it did, but I could see where some would) the humor and ability to switch between Abe and Munch, with their interaction, really makes up for it.

So far I have been enjoying my time with the Xbox. I’m not positive if it is worth the $400-500 asking price (bundle-wise) now. I will follow this article up next week with my impressions on Project Gotham Racing, Fuzion Frenzy, and Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2x. I also hope to get some impressions on the DVD-playback so I can either confirm or deny its supposedly excellent quality. Feel free to post some discussions on the boards and I will see you next week!
