Sega CDX - SEGAFans - An interview with Chakan
For those of you out there who have been clammoring for a Saturn page, you have no doubt ran into The Unofficial Saturn homepage, then Sega CDX, and now SEGAFans. If you have frequented the page, you have seen server change after server change, and now the site rests back at its origins, classicgaming. I got to discuss with the webmaster of these sites Chakan, so that we may get a better understand of what's going on and what his goals are:
- Why the sudden change from Sega CDX to SEGAFans?
I think a number of people saw it coming. I couldn't find any truly decent Sega fan-based communities out there, especially ones that encourage discussion of Sega's entire library of excellence, past and present. So I decided to give away my sanity just to attempt to allow more people to join in the fun. That and it gives me more excuses to play some old favorites. :)
- Is the SEGAFans network still around?
Indeed it is. Just last week I received two applicants who were interested in hosting, and after a small period of discussion, we're now moving on to what I refer to as 'phase 2' for both of those sites. Want a hint? I hope you like shooters...

If anyone out there currently has a Sega-related site or is even interested in starting one, be sure to get ahold of me. At the very least, I'll help you get the word out about it.
- With this recent change, has your overall goal changed as well? And for those who haven't visited your site yet, please explain to me (us) said goal.
Recently, I went through a period where I was fooling myself. I drew up a plan that involved a formula for success for SegaFans. The plan itself was great, but we just aren't big enough just yet.
So I've taken what I've learned along with what I've known from before, and I'll be rebuilding SegaFans as we know over the next month or so. I'll stop to add new content at least every few days, though.
