Street Fighter Alpha 2 - A review of
Capcom's masterpiece
Here is my review of Street Fighter Alpha 2. Enjoy! This is a fighting masterpiece! Capcom did everything right with the game and they also went above and beyond with the addition of an image collection, and keeping in Shin (Super) Akuma and Evil Ryu. What this game does is perfect Capcom's tried-and-true fighting formula by mixing great characters with a accurate combo system. This is the definitive 2D fighter. Sure, there are a lot of 3D games out now, but playing SFA2 back ups my theory that 2D games are still around and sometimes a lot better than their 3D counterparts. Now, with 20 characters (including Shin Akuma and Evil Ryu), there is a wide variety of characters to choose from. They range from a mad general that wants to take over the world to a fighter that has been turned into a evil demon from executing a move to kill his opponents. Now here is a run down of the menu: Survival Mode Now in survival mode you choose a character and go one round with every character in the game. I found that playing this mode a lot perfects your abilities to perform tricky moves in a tight spot. It also make you an all-around better player. Arcade mode is what you would expect - you try to take your character and fight two rounds with various opponents and they fight their own unique boss. If you are good enough, mini boss. Training mode is OK. I feel that it is lacking an important feature - they don't tell you what the moves are! They give you a character that is basically a dummy and you just beat the crap out of him/her. I think they should put the movements at the bottom of the screen and when you perform it correctly, you get a check by it . Illustrations are awesome. They included 100 pictures for your enjoyment, and they range from portraits of Sagat and Ryu to advertisements that were in Japanase magazines. This is a Saturn-ONLY feature along with Shin Akuma and Evil Ryu. And the options mode is also what you would expect - sound, difficulty, etc. . . . And, as mentioned before, there are Saturn-only features like Shin Akuma, Go To Page: 1 2
