Disturbing trends and the PSX2

Lately I have seen some strange occurences, such as, how does a console that sells millions in a few months lose such support so quickly? Whenever I walk into any video game store, I am bulldozed by Playstation 2 pre-order forms and employees eager to sell me on the system. Now for a system with such hype, there is too much doubt about its price, compatability and how many quality games will be out for it. The Dreamcast has a proven quality for good software, with more on the way, but it is quickly losing much needed support.

When the Dreamcast was launched just a few short months ago it was hyped on tv and in some stores, but now that they seem so eager to jump on the latest bandwagon, they are leaving a very powerful system and potential users behind. There is no doubt that many others have seen such a barrage of PSX2 info. Most gaming sites have all but dropped the Dreamcast in favor of Sony's new system, and they will mainly just review games, which in many cases receive high scores.

With all of this going on, it is still up to Sega to proceed and continue its success. They are on top now and still playing catchup, but this will all end soon. It will get worse before it is over but it will still end. And, we will either see if PSX2 really is the end all of gaming or merely a failed sophmore attempt on Sony's part. The roles just may reverse and Sony will get hit with the Nintendo syndrome rather than Sega.

Only time will tell.
