My 3rd Review of a Sega Saturn game: NiGHTS: Into Into The Drea

NiGHTS is one of the Saturns strongest selling games, next to Virtua Fighter 2 they are the most sold games. And there is good reason for it to be called that. NiGHTS is very difficult to describe, in the sense that it is a aventure game that takes place while you are flying on a preset course, and it is also a racing game. They give you a time to complete the course if you dont you lose your powers and fall to the ground hurrying to get your power back while a floating alarm clock chases you. In NiGHTS your character is a sleep and the alarm clock wakes them, hence causing a game over. The games begins with a lovely intro, it is a bit grainy though and continues with fantastic music in a magical world that has to be experienced to be believed, the bosses are imaginative and the control is dead on whether it be with the directional pad or the analog controller.

When you first get your taste of NiGHTS you are a bit confused with it's akward control and sometime confusing track layout but once you get the hang of it you do not want to put it down. And since there are two players to choose from their is plenty of re-play value involved. And there is a whole magical feel to the game with it's vibrant colors and strange objects, like having a train on the ground going under candy canes like they were tunnels. Not to mention the upbeat melodies that are constant throughout the game. There is also a VS mode but I haven't gotten around to playing it yet with someone else.

Many people either have NiGHTS or have played it due to Next Generation and Ultra Game Players giving out free copies of Christmas NiGHTS, with the first level of NiGHTS but with amazing extras. When you set a different date the background and every object on the game changes. Not to mention there are presents that you get upon completion, they range form CGI Portraits to a sing along song. In many people's opinions X-Mas NiGHTS is better than NiGHTS, due to all the extras thet you get, not to mention that it is free! And if you haven't gotten X-Mas NiGHTS you can call Sega at 1-800-USA-SEGA, they are supposed to have a few copies left and they are free but you have to send them 5 dollars to cover the shipping and handling charges. So overall
