Dreamcast released

The Sega Dreamcast was recently released in Japan at the price of roughly $250. Although in some places they are still available, in most places it is not or, if so, in low quantities.

Now getting one over here is a different story. Yes, yes, I know you can shop around and find some Hong Kong dealer that will rip you off with a demo unit but unless your prepared to spend over $500, you're not getting one here in the United States.

Many stores are offering the DC with a game or two and a controller and that will easily amount up starting at $670 and onward. So far, the games mainly concentrated on have been Virtua Fighter 3tb and Godzilla, and already VF3 has gotten good reviews. One problem is that many are quick to pick out the bad and not the good which is a shame, since it gets a highscore yet still many will get the wrong impression.

So far not many games are scheduled to be released soon and as of late Blue Stinger has been delayed. It is a wise idea to hold off on getting a DC if you live in the US unless you must have one or are a hardcore VF3 nut. Also, when it comes out here in Sept '99, there will be many more games available and you can get it for a far cheaper price. Be warned if you are trying to get one, though - you might end up with a demo unit that can't play the games or nothing at all. So if you do buy, do your research.

Next update will discuss the games and what's to come.
