Thanksgiving Cornucopia Centerpiece
DIRECTIONS: 1. Lightly sand wood blocks till all edges are smooth. 2. Paint the 7-inch piece using the peach or tan acrylic paint, set aside to dry. 3. Using your hot glue gun, secure the 7 inch block to the 4 x 6 inch block so that both blocks form an upside down “T”. 4. Cover the 7-inch piece with burlap, draping it across the “body” and covering the bottom ¾ section of the block. 5. Hot glue the burlap for added durability, and tie it closed around the “waist” with a piece of cord. 6. Using black acrylic paint, paint black eyes and eyelashes, eyebrows and smiling mouth on the “face” section. 7. Cut the edges of the 1-inch piece of fabric with pinking shears into the shape of a long triangle. Hot glue to the “nose” section. 8. Hot glue Spanish moss around the base of “Ms. Autumn.” Add the fall foliage pick to the upper left corner, at her “feet.” 9. Flatten a small bunch of raffia and tie with a piece of orange ribbon. Hot glue this haystack to the right of “Ms. Autumn.” 10. Hot glue the sunflower at the “neck” of “Ms. Autumn.” 11. Using straightened raffia for hair, hot glue strands in place on top of the 7-inch block. Top with the straw hat, and our “Autumn Cutie” is ready to welcome visitors in your vestibule, kitchen, or den area. I hope these ideas inspire you to decorate your home with style and ease this coming season. It really doesn’t take much, just a trip to the craft store for some supplies, a quiet afternoon, and you’re ready to go! Happy Thanksgiving! See you next month!
