It’s as easy as one, two, three! Seriously. This lovely fall centerpiece can be completed within FIFTEEN minutes, and costs a mere $8.50 to make. If you can’t decide what to contribute to your mother’s holiday dinner table, this particular craft piece creates it’s own colorful autumn splendor in the midst of all the holiday trimmings.
One medium to large cornucopia (about 12 inches in length is perfect) Five to six autumn leaf and fruit picks One Styrofoam ball, large enough to fit snugly inside the mid-section of the cornucopia One mini-glue gun and glue stick DIRECTIONS: 1. Push the Styrofoam ball inside the cornucopia until it fits snugly, somewhere toward the middle. You want the picks to be able to stick firmly inside the ball, yet stick out far enough outside the cornucopia so that the fruit and fall foliage appear to be flowing out of the horn. 2. Squeeze a thin line of hot glue around the side of the ball in order to anchor it inside the cornucopia. 3. Stick your autumn goodies firmly inside the ball. You don’t want to scrimp on these, or else your “horn of plenty” will look a little empty. 4. Fluff and bend picks as necessary for maximum coverage. Be sure not to leave any gaping holes. 5. Place cornucopia on your table, stand back and admire. Now, that was very easy, wasn’t it? For this month, I have created a “bonus” craft that makes a unique windowsill decoration or tabletop piece. Shall we get started? “Autumn Cutie” This craft is a bit more difficult than our “horn of plenty,” but just as satisfying to complete. “Autumn Cutie” is part of an unusual line of crafts I have been developing using leftover wood scraps. But I promise, no intense sanding or hammering required for this project, just some light sandpaper, and square blocks of wood. Put it all together, dress it up, and there you go! Ms. Autumn has arrived. MATERIALS: One 4 x 6 inch unfinished block of wood, 1 ½ inches thick One 7 x 1 ½ inch unfinished block of wood, 1 ½ inches thick One 6 inch straw doll hat Peach or tan acrylic paint Black acrylic paint One hot glue gun and glue sticks One 1-inch square piece of bright colored fabric One pair of pinking sheers One bunch of raffia, straightened One ¼ wide orange ribbon, 8 inches long One small bunch of Spanish moss One fall foliage pick One 10 x 10 inch piece of burlap One 8 inch piece of cord or yarn
