4 Once this paint dries thoroughly, paint the name of your herb on the side of each can.

5 Apply a coat of sealer once the paint is dry.

6 Using the metal garden tools, miniature gloves, and raffia, attach the gloves or a tool or two to the handles on the sides, for a whimsical look. Tie the raffia tightly so that your embellishments do not come loose.

7 Optional: you can add a few silk flower blossoms to either the terracotta or metal pots for more color and depth of design. Once your herbs have come up, you can place some Spanish moss around the stems, on top of the soil. This holds water in longer and gives the plant an outdoor appearance.

Add the pebbles, potting soil, and seeds to the metal cans. Don’t forget to water! Keep water from dripping out by using terracotta drip catchers or plates underneath the plants.

Now your lovely pots are ready to grace your windowsill! Once your herbs start to sprout and take off, the natural beauty will be even more impressive. A home decorating and gardening task all rolled into one.

See you next month!
