WWW Virtual Library and Britannica Internet Guide: Reviews and Search Tipsquickly by doing keyword searches in the Guide. If you don't retrieve useful results, a box is provided for doing general Web searches through Alta Vista. Search Tips The only search syntax available are the Boolean operators AND, OR , NOT and ADJ. Since Britannica indexes only the titles and descriptions of the included web pages, and not the complete text, it's usually best to keep your searches simple. To search for a phrase, you'll need to use the ADJ (adjacent) operator instead of quotation marks. Use ADJ between the words you want to appear next to each other. For example: dog ADJ training or Romeo ADJ and ADJ Juliet You can also combine Boolean operators. For example: FDR OR Franklin ADJ Delano Informative Reviews Websites featured under each category are rated, have relatively long and informative reviews, and include title and source of the site. For the other websites (accessible by keyword search), title, source and a brief description are given. In general, Britannica Internet Guide is an excellent place to go when you're looking for the best websites to introduce yourself to a subject. If you're doing research for a course in high school, college, or for some other purpose, you're likely to find reliable, understandable information at many of the sites it lists.
