Selecting Word will retrieve only the exact word. It's usually best to search for the exact word when your keyword is short. For example, if you enter the word sin, and choose String, you'll be searching for documents which include sing, sincere, since, etc.

You can specify a phrase in BuddhaNet by selecting all words must be found exactly as specified.

If you opt not to make your word case-sensitive, the system will retrieve your search words and ignore capitalization. If you choose to make your search case-sensitive, matches are restricted to the way your keywords are capitalized (i.e., the search word China will not retrieve documents with the word china).

Results: Search results contain only the title, so you have no idea what type of information an item contains until you look at it. Since BuddhaNet contains many different kinds of material, results that are more descriptive would be helpful.

THE BAHA'I WORLD - EXTENSIVE INFORMATION COMBINED WITH A SIMPLE, SPEEDY SEARCH ENGINE

The Baha'i World is an extensive site about all aspects of Baha'i. Because the full-text of the material included is indexed, you can be very specific in what you're searching for.

The eight subject categories (e.g., the Baha'i sacred writings, spiritual truths, a new vision for humanity's future) on the left side of the homepage are actually a subject directory of information at the site. Each category has several subdivisions, which list a varying number of documents.

Search tips: The Baha'i World's search engine supports the Boolean operators AND and OR, in addition to quotation marks to signify phrases.

Results: Each result includes the title of the document plus a relevance score.
