Thanksgiving Tummy Rubbers


Serve turkey with gravy.

Makes 10 to 12 servings.

OLD FASHIONED CREAMED PEAS AND ONIONS
2 pounds small boiling onions (or whatever small onions you can find)
8 ounces large frozen peas.
1/2 cup butter - salted.
1/2 cup flour
3 cups heavy cream
1 1/2 cups water from cooking the onions salt and pepper to taste
1/2 cup white raisins, walnuts or pecans

Peel the onions, place them in a saucepan and cover with salted water. Simmer until just tender. Add the peas, simmer five minutes. Drain off liquid into a bowl.Set onions, and peas, and liquid aside.
In a medium sauce pan melt the butter. When it foams stir in the flour. Cook gently, stirring, for 2 minutes, then add cream.
Cook and stir until thickened. Add 1 1/2 cups of reserved onion liquid.
Simmer for another few minutes. Add salt and pepper to taste. Add the onions and any optional additions. Serve hot.

Mashed Sweet Potatoes

Ingredients:

4 medium sweet potatoes, peeled
1/2 stick of butter
1/4 cup whole milk.
3/8 cup dark brown sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon

Instructions:

Bring water to a a boil. Then peel potatoes and cut into small cubes. Add potates to water, and cook until tender. Remove potatoes, place in bowl. Mash potatoes with potato masher or mixer. Add butter and milk; stir. Add brown sugar and cinnamon, stir. Dish onto bowl or plate. Sprinkle cinnamon lightly over top
