My Walk Across the Web

In writing a weekly column, I find myself always on the look out for new and different sites that may offer not only good food but are perhaps kind on the eyes, easy to read, and with recipes that are user-friendly, meaning you can follow them without making your self crazy, which I have been known to do on occasion.

I came across The Culinary Connection and was actually asked if I would please review this site. Now normally, when indiviuals ask me to review their site, I don't, as I like to find my sites on my own. As soon as I arrived at this site, however, I was hooked. Not only do they encourage you to share your own creations with them and others, they have a free newsletter and recipe distribution list. It's really a site worth looking at.

Since it's that time of the year, I found a hilarious site called Tailgating Across America. Follow Louisiana chef Joe Cahn across the nation as he shares his New Orleans specialties with fellow tailgaters!

Before 30 NFL games during the 1996 season, Joe Cahn, founder of the New Orleans School of Cooking, turned his motorhome into a cooking school as he taught rabid football fans how to prepare Creole and Cajun foods from the Crescent City, host of Super Bowl XXXI.

In addition to dishing out Louisiana cooking, Cahn also talked to fans about local tailgating traditions and found out which stadiums served the best food and which team's fans threw the best pre-game parties. (He says it was a tough job, but someone had to do it!) I really enjoyed this site and I can't wait to try out these yummy looking recipes.

Last on my web search for that special or perhaps fun site, is this treasure of a site I happened to find. It's not secret that I am addicted to soup — doesn't matter what kind, I just love soup — so when I found Soup of the Evening, I was thrilled! When the I read the words from Lewis Carrol's "The Mock Turtle's song":

"Beautiful soup, so rich and green,
Waiting in a hot tureen!
Who for such dainties would not stoop?
Soup of the evening, beautiful Soup!
Soup of the evening, beautiful Soup!
Beau--ootiful Soo--oop!
Beau--ootiful Soo--oop!
Soo--oop of the e--e--evening, Beautiful, beautiful Soup"

I just couldn't help but agree. Included in this site are some wonderful recipes revolving around soup, food tales, basic soups and the such. With fall upon us, it's never not a good time for a bowl of heart soup! Enjoy!
