There is nothing more comforting in the world than a pet. They love you unconditionally, they're always excited to see you, they listen to you without giving advice, and they are very loyal. Who can resist not showcasing them in your scrapbooks.
I have two dogs. They are both bassiet hounds. One is 13 years old, the other is 4 years old. They are very different in personality. The older dog, Spud, is slow, a loner and a mama's boy. Fred, is rambunctious, extremely cuddly and a daddie's boy. I love to make scrapbook pages about them. To be honest they are one of my favorite subjects to photograph. If you have lots of pet pictures too, then read on because I have lots of ideas for you. Pet Portraits First and foremost inorder to make a good scrapbook page you need great photos. There are 5 steps that can help you improve your pet portraits. 1. Film selection can make all the difference in the quality of your pet pictures. Action shots require a faster film, ISO 400 or 800. This will help to avoid blurry shots. If your pet is going to be still then a film speed of 100 or 200 will work. 2. Location is very important. Place your pet in an environment that they are familiar with. This will help to keep your pet still and calm. 3. A clean pet will look more elegant in the photos. Give your pet a quick brush before placing them in front of the camera. 4. Use natural light. Follow the same advice of lighting for people as well as your pets. When indoors take the picture by the window. If you're going to be outside pick a bright shady spot and avoid using your flash. 5. Shoot at different angles. Shoot from eye level, from above or beside your pet. Get up real close and fill the frame with your pets image. This will make for a fabulous picture. Picture Ideas Some of my favorite pictures of my dogs include them sleeping in their favorite places, playing in the park, playing with their toys and them with different family members. Other picture ideas could include them with their pet, with their groomer or sitter, with the family at holiday times. I took my puppy to puppy preschool and took some great pictures. Take pictures of the bad things they do, this makes for some funny pages. Page Layout Ideas Document them coming home, injuries they sustain or any surgeries they may have. Tricks they may perform, the cage, aquarium or kennel that they reside in, write about how you named them and what it means. Document their favorite treats and food. My favorite layout of my dogs is of them getting a bath. They look like drenched rats and it's hilarious. They both hate water and it's a real struggle to get them bathed. It was fun to document the struggle we have with this. Go To Page: 1 2
