It's that time again when school's out, the weather is hot and you're ready for a vacation.
Going on a trip during the summer is an American past time. It's also a hectic time. Getting ready to leave can take days, even weeks. As you're packing your suitcase take a few minutes,
and think about what you'll want your scrapbook pages to reflect about your vacation. The few
minutes you take now will pay dividends at the end of your vacation.
Before your vacation... 1. Buy film and lots of it. It's more expensive to buy the film at the hotel gift shop and overseas than at the local grocery store. Also, check your camera's battery. The last thing you want to happen is have your camera fail as you're taking a picture of the Eiffel Tower. Some travelers prefer to take a disposable camera with them and keep their nice camera at home, safe. 2. Plan your pictures. This may sound weird, but by thinking ahead of what pictures you would like on your trip will help guarantee you get the pictures you want. Make a list and keep with your camera. 3. Pack a manila envelope with two pieces of cardboard on the bottom of your suitcase. This will be used to hold your film, postcards, maps, memorabilia, etc. You can use the outside of your manila envelope to write down the day-to-day events of your vacation. 4. Prepare a vacation survey for your family to take after you get back. Ask what they liked, disliked, favorite places, what was their favorite eating place, etc. This will help with your journaling when you get home. After your vacation... 1. Develop your film immediately, don't wait too long or you'll forget the little details of your vacation. Have your family members fill out their surveys and put them in the manila envelope. 2. Once you've gotten your photos back from the developer take them to the scrapbook store and get all the supplies you will need to do your vacation pages. This will save you lots of time when you sit down to scrapbook. 3. Now is the time to sort the photos and journal about each one. You can write on the back of the photos with a photo safe pencil or use a separate piece of paper. The sooner you do this the better your journaling will be on your pages. 4. Put everything together in your vacation manila envelope. This way if you don't have time Go To Page: 1 2
