There is one surety in scrapbooking and that is the need for inspiration. In this industry there is no shortage of ideas. Not only are there wonderful idea books and websites, but there are some great magazines too.
There are five scrapbooking magazines currently on the market. Each has its own style and information. Following is a brief description of each one and what they can offer you. Be sure to check out each one. "Creating Keepsakes" is considered the "bible" of scrapbookers. It was one of the first magazines on the scrapbooking scene. It has become such a success that the founding editor, Lisa Bearnson, now sells scrapbooking supplies on QVC. It has also spawned a sister publication (more on that one later). This magazine is loaded with layouts and articles. It's good for a beginner, but better for the advanced scrapbooker. A lot of the layouts are very complicated. Some of its past themes/articles dealt with baby pictures, Mother's Day and design tips for better layouts. "Creating Keepsakes" is published 12 times a year and subscription rate is $24.97 for a year. Their website is www.creatingkeepsakes.com. "Simple Scrapbooks" is the sister publication to "Creating Keepsakes." It's the newest scrapbooking magazine on the market. This magazine is excellent for the beginner because it focuses on simple layouts. The advanced scrapbooker can find the layouts inspirational as well. The focus of this magazine is mainly on theme albums and is of the same name as Stacy Julian's "Simple Scrapbooks" book. She is also the editor of this magazine. Regular features include color confidence, font choices and theme album projects. "Simple Scrapbooks" is published 6 times a year and the subscription rate is $23.97 a year. Their website is www.simplescrapbooksmag.com. "Paperkuts" is a rising star among the scrapbook magazines. Each issue gets better. They have a good mix of layouts and articles. The magazine offers product reviews, regular features on stamping and becoming more supply savvy. "PaperKuts" is published 6 times a year and is priced at $22.95 for a year subscription. Their website is www.paperkuts.com. "Memory Makers" was also one of the first publications to come out on scrapbooking. Their layouts and articles tend to lean towards the advanced scrapbooker. Some of their regular features deal with lettering, photojournaling, organizing and new products on the market. "Memory Makers" is the most expensive magazine. For a one year subscription (8 issues) it is $45.00. Their website is www.memorymakersmagazine.com. Go To Page: 1 2
