One thing about the Internet-it has turned learning into fun. Beware! You might spend a lot of time on the net if you visit any of the web sites listed in this article.

I found a fantastic web site - Quia, where learning takes you, http://www.quia.com/ . I could spend hours there and did. This site is free (with ads) or you can subscribe (ad free). You have to have a Java-enabled browser to use the site. It allows you to take quizzes or play games on a wide variety of topics. Test your knowledge of chemistry, geology, astronomy or math. Or, if you don't see what you want, make your own games and quizzes for others to take!

Let's move on to ArtEdventures!, http://www.sanford-artedventures.com/pla... . The introduction says it's an online interactive game site for teachers and students, but hey, we can play too. Although the main theme of the site is art, science concepts play a part. Try your hand at redesigning some common objects for alien use. Or travel back to Da Vinci's workshop and see if you can discover what's amiss. You'll be enjoying yourself so much you'll never notice that you're learning something as well.

I include this site, Space.com http://www.space.com/games/ , because I enjoyed playing the constellation quiz. It is interesting and informative with great sound effects. If you decide to play again, the questions are different. Unfortunately, I found the site distracting with the multitude of ads.

Exploit Science Center, http://www.dcn.davis.ca.us/GO/EXPLORIT/h... , boasts challenges, quizzes and stumpers for all ages. Try the quizzes. They may puzzle you but the answers are give along with either a brief explanation or some interesting facts. You can be proud of yourself if you manage to answer all the stumpers. They're not easy, but a detailed answer is provided so you are not left in the dark.

On a more serious side, need help with chemistry? Learning the periodic table and need some practice? Then click over to 1001 Periodic Table Quiz Questions, http://www.1001-periodic-table-quiz-ques... . Here you will find science (chemistry) questions suitable for students in grade three to university. There's a periodic table drill that's varied and extensive. It will have you repeating the table backwards and forwards in no time:).

Or maybe biology is your passion. Then don't miss ZeroBio, http://www.execulink.com/~ekimmel/ . This site is written by a high school biology teacher and is primarily aimed at high school students. Nonetheless, anyone can have some fun with Sam Cisco as he detoxifies a house or cleans up a spill. It was not possible to complete some of the quizzes since a correct answer was needed to continue on. If you can't come up with it, you are stuck since no hints or answers are given.
