There is also the problem of radiation in space. According to the NASA site, it is known how much radiation there is between Earth and Mars but not what affect the radiation will have on the astronauts. The biggest threat to the astronauts will come from galactic cosmic rays. A possible solution is to build the spacecraft from a material that will shield the astronauts. One suggested material is plastic. Plastic is rich in hydrogen which is good at absorbing cosmic rays. These are only a few of the problems that man will have to overcome in order to travel to Mars. So, will man make it to Mars? Most definitely and I hope it is in my lifetime.
