Introduction: Number Values, The Alphabet and Dreams© Lauri Jean Crowe
There are three basic types of numeric alphabet codes which I am familiar with, which are used in basic numerology. Typically these are used to divine fortunes, or learn what characteristics and attributes a person may have based on the numerical equivalent of a word associated with that person, or even a date in time such as a birthday.
These codes can be used by the dreamer who is studying the numerological or alphabetical significance of their dreams by using the codes to decipher otherwise seemingly meaningless dream images. For example, if the letter F kept popping up in your dreams, you could denote that in your dream journal and then use the codes of translating to numerical value for more insight into your personal dream mythos. Part 1 will explore what is commonly given as the standard system, also known as the Mediterranean or modern system in some circles. This system is based on values of 1-9 being assigned to the numbers, and then matching a particular letter value. Part 2 will explore the system commonly known as the Hebrew system based on the Hebrew alphabet although it does have some influence in the Greek alphabet as well. This system does not use the 1-9 numerical value equivalent, but has equivalents 1-8, with nine not factoring in as a value. Part 3 will explore the Runic system of numeric equivalents, also called Germanic, Nordic, Tuetonic and a variety of other names depending on who is doing the research. This system will be my own observations based on years of rune work with the Elder Futhark system of runology. Although there are many other forms of numerical/alphabetical numerology systems in place throughout the world, including several derivatives in the runic system alone, these three are those which I am most familiar with and have an intimate knowledge of. I will leave you to the list of resources if you wish to explore numerology more in depth than my brief researches here. As with any system, these three off only a theoretical framework. I cannot stress this enough. Many who study dreams want fast answers to why they keep dreaming the letter/number combination C9 or why there are always sixteen polka dots on the bedding they dream of. I personally believe only you can know, although these tools may help you to develop a framework of understanding of your personal dream realm. Go To Page: 1
