Next in our series of dream interviews is Michael Sheridan of Aisling Dream Interpretation. LJC: What got you started exploring the realm of dreams? MS: I had been doing a lot of soul searching and exploring the purpose of life in general when I decided to accompany my sister on a dream course she wanted to do. I didn't really believe in it at the time. Anyway, I submitted a dream anonymously to the group and was floored by the interpretation they came up with. It described me to a tee and also described how I was born through cesarean section! The detail really hooked me. For years I had been searching for answers to the meaning of my life and in 10 minutes somebody who didn't know me answered so many of my questions from one dream. That meant that I had all the answers all the time, in my dreams, but I never knew it. From that moment I applied myself on the course and submitted as many dreams as I could. I just found it so fascinating that I had all the answers to life's challenges myself. I just needed to turn the key on my dreams. LJC: Is there any specific dream researcher who's well known historically that influenced you? MS: No. I was influenced by a fellow Dubliner named George Rhatigan. Once I became interested in dreams I started reading about Jung but my own dreams told me to avoid the academic route so I eventually dropped that. George's methods were much more simple but required working through the heart rather than logic. I grappled with that for a while because I was always more inclined to following a logical route. LJC: How did you decide on Aisling as the name of your business? MS: It is the Irish word for dream or vision. I liked it because Irish folklore has a strong emphasis on Spiritual direction and because I was developing my vision for the future through my dreams. LJC: I've watched Aisling grow over the past two years, what do you think is the secret of your success? MS: I really enjoy writing and sharing the simplicity of dream interpretation with others. I consider myself successful when I write something that is clear and easy to follow. It takes on an energy of it's own and I add it to the canvas of my web site. I also don't let other's exert influence over me and have resisted all requests by others to 'swap links' or display banner ads. That way I don't have to worry about writing something that conflicts with anyone else. My energy goes into the site and nothing else. I only publish what I honestly believe to be the truth.
