A Dream Ritual For Y2K's End

Well, the year is over in which everyone freaked about the Y2K bug only to find that such illusory insects are easily squashed.

For the end of Y2K I'd like each of you to think about what you would accomplish if you were live to see the next 2000 years. Sure, this is ridiculous, we don't have the faith, perserverence or the technology to keep the human body alive for 2000 years, much less 100 years in most cases. But, what would your goals be in that time frame? What have you always wanted to do? A trip to the vineyards of France? To see the great Pyramids? Dive in the Atlantic Ocean or the Mediterranean? Learn to crochet? Finish your College Degree. Be realistic and fanciful. If you had all the time in the world what would you seek to accomplish?

Then look at which wishes you could realistically accomplish in the next ten years. Then simplify it to those you can meet in the next five years. Finally, simplify down to what you can realistically accomplish in the next year even if it takes a bit of work. I think you'll find that some of those outrageous ideas are doable.

Then write down those year goals on a piece of paper and read it aloud before bed in declarative sentences such as "I will lose 20 pounds, I will go to Texas, I will read "Gone With The Wind", I will learn to create a web page, I will get a better paying job", etc. or perhaps you want to rid yourself of a behaviour, "I will stop smoking", "I will control my anger'. Once you have read your list, place it under your pillow and repeat the one goal you really want to accomplish aloud when you wake.

Make note of any dreams you have. Do this for a period of nine days. You've sent your wish in a positive statement into your waking and sleeping realms. You may find a solution to a barrier to one of your goals appears in your dreams, or that you realize that goal doesn't take as much priority as another. You may even find you are just shy of completing the goal.

Once you've completed the goal, cross it off and repeat the wishing, repeating the entire list. Then the one most important goal, and repeat the process until you have completed all your goals.

Don't tell anyone you're doing this. Sometimes having a secret wish gives it more power. The important thing is for you to remain focused on your goals, and this is an easy way to do so because by focusing on them each night you are more likely to dream about them. By affirming them each morning you are validating the dreams.
