Because of science, we now know more about these diseases and illnesses, but to those in the Dark Ages, these people were something to be feared and the things legends were made of. Most strange phenomena can be explained by science, but it wouldn't be Halloween without the myths and legends of the past and present.

Focus on Your World A competition, sponsored by Canon Inc., aims to raise awareness of our environment through photography. Entries are invited from people of all nationalities, young and old, amateur and professional photographers alike, to illustrate how they see our planet and its environment at the dawn of a new millennium. Rules and entry forms available at their site.

Write to Learn Contest If you are looking for a way to pay for your science education then this is a contest for you. In 100 words or less answer the question "What Does a College Education Mean To Me Or Someone I Know?" The winner receives $80,000 towards their college education. This contest ends soon so don't delay in entering.
