Never feed sharks. Some companies in the Bahamas and Florida are offering shark feeding tours. Sharks that live in those waters have come to associate the sound of motor boats with food. If no food is given, they sometimes attack. It is not wise to feed any wild animal at any time. They weren't meant to interact with humans.

Be cautious when you are in the water. Sharks can, and do, attack without provocation (reason.)

How to Avoid a Shark Attack:

1. Always swim in a group, never alone.

2. Don't wear shiny objects into the water.

3. Never swim at dawn, dusk, or after dark.

4. Never go into the water if you are bleeding.

5. Stay near shore.

6. Avoid waters containing sewage and garbage. These attract bait fish, which attract sharks.

7. Wear dark colors.

8. Avoid cloudy water.

9. Don't splash.

10. Stay away from drop-offs and sandbars.

11. Never try to touch a shark.

12. If attacked, do whatever it takes to escape. Eg. Blow bubbles, yell, hit, kick etc.

13. Leave the water immediately if a shark is spotted.

14. Stay alert.

Follow these rules and lessen your chances of being attacked by a shark. Pass these on to others you know who may be swimming in areas where sharks could attack. Have a safe and happy summer.
