If you are inside during a thunderstorm, unplug all electrical appliances. Stay away from windows and doors. Never take a bath or shower. Do not go outside if you can avoid it. Never talk on the phone or use electrical equipment.

If you are with someone who gets struck by lightning, it is safe to touch them. The human body can't carry an electrical charge. See if the person is conscious and call 911. Don't panic. Tell the operator calmly, what has happened.

Take a course in First Aid or CPR. There are many places that offer them. Check it out. If you can't find a course, ask your teacher, scout or guide leader, or your parents.

If you follow the instructions in this article, your chances of being struck by lightning are very slim. Take care, be careful and play safe.
