Who are you writing for?

I have tried to be constructive with my comments on this page and hopefully have encouraged writers who are working on projects to persevere and search outside of normality to write Science Fiction.

As a child I can clearly remember watching all the wonderful science fiction programs which appeared on the television. Sometimes the abstract and imaginative programs would be the cause of nightmares but it was guaranteed that the next episode would be missed. The first science fiction program I can clearly remember was Fireball XL5 followed by Dr Who and his battles with Cyber Men, Darleks and a wonderful assortment of creatures and beings. Thunderbirds and Captain Scarlet led a more normal but advanced story line and my imagination was inspired. The book albums of these series would be collected and then the books read mostly by torch light after bedtime. With Star Trek, Babylon 5, Star Gate, Dune and many more the world of science fiction became a wonderful inspiration and a way for writers and film makers to express a meaningful message to the world.

Giving a message was the reason I decided to write a book, I decided that the world we live in today can be seen from many angles. Religion and politics control and sometimes retard the world we live in, so like many others I decided to voice an opinion to the world by writing. I chose to first look at religion from outside the circle and wrote "Anno Domini 2001". The science fiction realm meant I was able to form an abstract view of religion but using a reality of today. I also had an incredible variety of religions to choose from. I chose Christianity and then invented character names that fitted the frame. The leading character was named Groad. This is simple to interpret, take the odd letters from the name (letters 1.3.5) spells God; the remaining letters are Ra an Egyptian god. Both are god figures of the time I used as the setting of the work. Later I introduced four characters, which by their description and color of their clothing become the four horsemen of the apocalypse. The bible was my guide and the message was a knock on the door of any closed mind in my attempt to cause a reaction. I think some one once said, "Every action causes a reaction". The film "The Matrix", is another classic example of action reaction if it is understood and there are many more. Then I wrote my second book "No Second Chance" which will be released in a few weeks to challenge the second control, politics.
