New Years Resolutions.

We all look to the New Year with hope and promises. A new beginning when most people will make a resolution, a promise to resolve, change some personal habit or set a personal target to achieve. Most normal people will take something simple like, I will stop smoking, I will not swear anymore or I promise to be nicer and more accommodating with others. Real simple things that even the weakest minded person should and can achieve with the minimal effort. But the readers of this page are not normal; you are outside the normal restraints of time and space. You exist with the frustrations of normality but are living in another far more intricate world, a world where anything can happen, anytime in places only you have visited, anywhere, where only you have gone, in places that exist only because you allow them to exist. Inside your mind is the universe of Science Fiction, you are the science fiction writer and youhavee the greatest resolution of your life to date to make and keep; This is the year you will complete your work and be published or at least start the publication process. This is your year to reveal your world to this world. Forget the simple promises you have made before, now it is time to find the strength and commitment to write and achieve. Ask yourself this question, Are you going to make this resolution and keep it?

It sounds like a monumental goal to achieve. You have commitments to keep, changes can and will happen unexpectedly in your life and the lives of people around you. Influences and distractions can and will pull you away from your writing but you will have to find the strength, energy, commitment and determination to achieve. It can and has been done by many before and will be done by many others in the future.

It can and will be said I am sure as each and every would be author, the struggling science fiction writer of today that stumbles across this page, what do I know about the problems of a writers life? Well here is the answer before you ask and hopefully the inspiration you need.

I am a published author. It is something I never expected or aimed for. I have a basic education in the written word but found a need, an inspiration to write and express an opinion, to share my thoughts with more than the few people I met and talked or lectured to. I also had very little spare time in my life's agenda and would write late into the night until the work was done, the first work was completed in only six months and I was lucky enough after an infinite amount of telephone calls and rejections to find after submitting my work to one publisher, one agent (that was a joke worth sharing) to find an open-minded publishing editor who accepted it. Then I wrote part two of my planned trilogy in four months. Part three still needs some inspiration before I start. Then I may wish to write for fun and will entertain the readers of my work with a biography.
