Wishful Thinking.

© David A Simpson.

Living in a warm climate based in a tourist industry Mecca I meet people from all around the world on a daily basis. These people, visitors to a tropical paradise share their dreams when they talk of living in a place where the sun shines nearly everyday, the sea is as warm as a bath year round and life is so laid back most days you don't wear shoes. They talk of life where they live and work, the grey skies, wind and rain. Some have to dig through the snow before they can reach their cars to start the long drive to an office or other work, to look out of the window and see their life's reality, dreaming of a vacation in the sun. These daydreams turn into maybe a two-week reality before the monotony of life pulls them back.

Now as a Sci Fi writer how much of this is true to you and your writing? How many hours have you spent dreaming up new scenarios for your book deeply absorbed in a world that only exists in your head, in your imagination? And how much would you like that fantasy to be a reality? You may see your self as the captain of a starship barking orders to your crew as you come under attack from a violent alien race or maybe saving a planet from destruction. James T. was an expert at that. If you have this depth of imagination and the ability to down load from your brain to a written format then you have the making of a best seller. Given the added ability to be multiple personalities to not only write about the other characters but also be in their scenarios feeling their feelings writing from your/their reality.

If you were given the chance would you want to experience and live in your fantasy world? To escape from life's grey skies into the stars, traveling at the speed of light on a mission to save a threatened species. This is the power of the greatest computer known to man which sits on your shoulders constantly absorbing new information and giving you the ability to construct and invent limitless Sci Fi scenarios to the degree that you have a split life, one real the other the ultimate dream.

While you question the quantum leap of faith if it were made a reality and your life could take on a whole new meaning we still have a reality to contend with.
