Christmas: The Season of Sci Fi.

What is it that gives you your kick when writing?

Maybe the descriptive and commanding use of the written word with which you intend to dazzle your audience of waiting readers with when your work is published. It could be the inventive new themes that appeared as dreams but formed into a Science Fiction book that you have to down load from your brain to paper. Or the answer could be very simple, you write because you see reality a little different to the rest of the world and you want to share your views regardless of how controversial they may be. Now that's sounds like a good reason to write.

As the wonderful author Charles Dickens did with Scrooge, let's briefly take a look at life through the eyes of a Science Fiction author.

As the Science Fiction Time Machine scrabbles your brain you have been magically transported to the great divide in history that changed the world as we know it, B.C. to A.D (That's Before Christ to Anno Domini), sounds like a title to a good book! The time when an immaculate conception changed the world and has been written about ever since by hundreds of authors all adding their personalizations to the theme. The Science Fiction writer would of course see the happenings of this time as an alien intervention with artificial insemination leading to the birth of a hybrid in an experiment leading to potential world control. For the UFO hunters this causes a problem with the line, "and god made man in his own image." We should all be little grey people with big bug eyes having a serious interest in anal probing!

Hold tight while our Time Machine leaps forward into another colourful era. We find a car driver with the bonnet of his car embedded into a snow drift and the Policeman reaching for his alcohol test as the driver tries to explain that the accident is not because he has drunk to much but because?

"But officer I had to swerve out of the way because this team of reindeer pulling a sleigh with a big fat guy in a red suit landed on the road in front of me."

The Science Fiction writer can only bow in homage to the inventor of such a great theme passed down and revered in history bringing us all a season to be merry and enjoy a good family union. St Nick, Santa, Father Christmas with Rudolph and the gang have enjoyed books and films to entertain all ages and to make the Science Fiction writer wonder, how can this big jolly fat guy and some seriously heavy reindeer defy gravity, speed and time dimensions to fly around the world in one night? Has Newton's theory developed a grey area?
