The Twilight Zone.

Science Fiction writers and in fact all writers will at some time have the insane desire to reveal their innermost, deepest, strangest thoughts, desires and intimate secrets to the world. By using a subject of incredible magnitude to express their form or dream of reality, past, present and future to the world. They (you) will commit a vast amount of time, energy and frustrated fights with the vocabulary and skills you possess to write. The end result of this crusade will be to see your work in print. Now here is the problem. Someone who you have never met, and probably never will meet will read your work. This person will assess your work and make a decision. The decision, will this book make money? Now we have to understand this person may be prejudice to your topic. They may not comprehend your knowledge or statement. They may not have totally understood your direction and imaginative invention of a new concept and dismissed your work through ignorance. Then the reality must be faced. Your work sucks! In the nicest possible way and there is not a nice way to say it, your work does not meet the standard required for today's readers, even with the help of our editors (who I have the utmost respect for) to make a reader put their hands in their pockets and buy your work.

It is not only the name on the cover that sells. There will always be a new audience waiting for new ideas, stimulation and reading material, yours. But face reality and read the work of others and refrain from the inevitable copycat style. Then use the expertise available from to-days small world of the Internet and especially these pages to connect with writers and authors. This new, expanding and unique media has all the knowledge and expertise of experience to help you achieve. A world of experience from graduates to editors, writers to authors. The writers of today will become the authors of tomorrow when they find the reality of the world of publication. It does take investment in both time and money but time is immaterial and money is a false commodity. Interaction and shared knowledge will result in achievement.

I have recently looked at several Science Fiction E Books, which writers have released, mostly no name authors who found the media attractive and submitted their work. After this experience I looked into the sales potential of this media. My findings were that people like Book Stores and Book Reviews. Something to hold and to read, a professionally produced book to keep and treasure. A book that has a special meaning to them personally (don't lend a book to friend you will never see it again).
