Since the dawn of time mankind has communicated with symbols, hieroglyphics, pictures leading to words and letters, later to be formed into documents and books that have been passed down through generations carrying both historic events and colorful stories for the education and the entertainment of future generations. Even the earliest cave paintings had depictions of aliens from the Aborigine, Maya, Inca and many more around the world, only to be followed by written accounts of alien encounters even in some of the strangest places. Take the bible, Luke:9:28-36 now that is a great encounter described wonderfully.
Science Fiction writers today responsibleible for inventing alien species which can mutate or are seeminindestructibleable, machines with artificial intelligence wanting to control the world or universe, beings with incredible powers who are either super hero's or super villains. Are these inventions of the imagination formed in the minds of normal people? Maybe they are subliminal messages telepathically sent to writers as a prophesy of the future to expect. Fantasy can supply a wonderful answer but the reality is to colorful, descriptive, new creative Science Fiction. The writer has to accept the fact that their mind is a little warped. It has been said that iseir ia a thin line between genius and insanity. There must also be a thin line between genius and warped. The restrictions imposed on the creative mind will be the difference between good writing and great writing. You may be your own worst critic or over sensitive to the opinions of one or two people that you may allow to read your work only because their comments make you question the new theme you have invented. Maybe they just fail to follow your text or you are a little to advanced in your theme. You may have interpreted a moment in history in a way your trusted critics did not want to see (I know that from experience). The lesson to be learnt is allow yourself to be different (warped) and don't allow the minority to criticize your work. Write how you want to write and invent what you want to invent. Let your mind warp take you over the line to where you may be looked upon as the genius who created the new theme in Science Fiction and don't worry about the minority of critics there is a majority waiting to give their opinion when you finally reveal your masterpiece to the world of the reader.
