Buffy the Vampire Slayer News

According to the Sci-Fi Wire, former "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" star Anthony Stewart Head told them that when his character Giles makes the move to his own series, which will possibly be entitled "The Watcher," he will be a changed man. In the article, Head says that Giles will be different because of the fact that his "motivation is different."

In the proposed BBC series, Giles will be haunted by ghosts from his past and the ghosts of others. As for when the series would make it's debut...Head suggested that it might be early next year sometime before audiences can expect to see anything more than rumours about the show.

According to the Australian Courier Mail, Nicholas Brendon, the actor who portrays Xander on "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," told them that the next season of the hit series may be it's last. Brendon reportedly told them that the contracts for the show's stars will expire at the end of next season.

Brendon also added that if the show were really over next season it would be "a teary goodbye" for him and for the other cast members. The sixth season finale of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" airs on May 14th.

According to the Sci-Fi Wire, "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" star Sarah Michelle Gellar will be joining Jack Black as co-host of the "MTV Movie Awards" which will air on June 6th at 9pm EST/PT.

Star Trek News

There was a report on the SyFy Portal that stated that "Star Trek: The Original Series" star James Doohan, who portrayed Scotty, was in a coma and near death. The SyFy Portal's source for the article was reportedly "someone close to the family."

However, the report seems to be part of the 'internet rumour mill.' There is a conflicting report on Zap2it.com. The Zap2it site is reporting that Doohan is doing well. Doohan's agent, Steve Stevens, reportedly told them that the 82-year-old actor had been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease and diabetes.

Stevens reportedly also told the site that although Doohan "isn't ready to do any personal appearances" the actor is "home, and he is doing rehabilitation..."

The complete second season of "Star Trek: The Next Generation" has now been release on DVD. For more information on the DVD set check out Star Trek.com.
