According to various news reports, several members of the "Star Trek" crew alumni have nominated for technical and musical Academy Awards, or "Oscars" as the awards are best known as. Composer Diane Warren, the woman who wrote the "Enterprise" theme "Faith of the Heart," was nominated for Best Original Song for her "There You'll Be" from "Pearl Harbor" and the composer of the score for "Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan" and "Star Trek III: The Search for Spock," James Horner, was nominated for Best Original Score for his soundtrack for "A Beautiful Mind." Other nominations include Jim Rygiel for Best Visual Effects for his work on "Lord of the Rings," Rygiel worked as the Visual Effects Supervisor for "Star Trek: Insurrection." The 74th annual Academy Awards will be held March 24th and will be hosted by "Star Trek: The Next Generation" alumni Whoopi Goldberg. According to the official "Star Trek" site, the 1999 independent film "Luminarias," which stars former "Star Trek: Voyager" star Robert Beltran and "Enterprise" star Scott Bakula, will be released on Video and DVD next week. Also appearing in the film are Marta DuBois who appeared in the "Star Trek: The Next Generation" episode "Devil's Due" as Ardra and Mike Gomez who appeared in several "Star Trek: The Next Generation" episodes as various Ferengi characters. The release is slated for February 26th. It looks like the inevitable has happened. According to the Sci-Fi Wire, Dean Stockwell and Scott Bakula will be reunited when appears on "Enterprise" in April. The episode, which is entitled "Detained," has Stockwell portraying Grat, a Tandaran colonel. "Detained" should be an interesting test of "Enterprise" crew and fans. Also appearing on an upcoming "Enterprise" episode is "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" alumni Rene Auberjonois. According to the TrekWeb website, Auberjonois will be playing Elcazar in the episode "Oasis." Angel News According to the Sci-Fi Wire and the Zap2It site, the network plans to send the popular series into hiatus for five weeks starting March 11th through to the 15th of April. The move is supposed to make way for some episodes of the series "Glory Days" on Monday nights at 9pm. New episodes of the series will air February 18th, 25th and March 4th. X-Files News According to the official "X-Files" website, veteran actor Burt Reynolds will be appearing on the popular hit series in March. Reynolds will be appearing in the two part episode "Provenance," which was directed by Kim Manners, and "Providence," which series creator Chris Carter directed.
