News on the future of Sci-Fi TV at Suite101.com:

As some of you may have seen, Suite101.com is down some Contributing Editors. The "winds of change" are definitely blowing here. When the dust settles and the "winds of change" cease.I'll still be here bringing you the latest news from the Sci-Fi Universe, profiles, reviews and other articles on Sci-Fi TV.

Aso I'm looking into adding other, for lack of a better word at the moment, "sub-topics" that I bring you, including book reviews on novels that are based on Sci-Fi TV shows, a list that includes "Star Trek," "Babylon 5," "X-Files," "Highlander" and others.

Another thing that may change in the future is the frequency of my articles. I may have to cut down from weekly to once or twice a month. This is a change that I have been thinking about for a while now. My company, Calico Tales Publishing, has taken off.so I'm trying to juggle everything without dropping anything.

Now on to the "regularly scheduled" Sci-Fi TV News Update.

Angel News

According to a report on the Sci-Fi Wire, it looks like "Angel" could be moving to Thursday nights. The WB began the airing repeats of the popular series January 10th and will continue to do so until sometime in February in order to "test" the waters for a possible timeslot move. All new episodes of the series will continue to air at its regular time.

Quantum Leap News

According to TV Guide online, the creator of the popular series "Quantum Leap" told the entertainment guide not look for a "reunion" film based on the series anytime in the future. Donald P. Bellisario reportedly said that he had hoped that he could get a "reunion" project going but Universal Studios has never shown any interest in reviving the popular series in a movie.

Other Sci-Fi News

According to Variety, NBC is thinking about re-making Stephen King's classic novel/film "Carrie" and the popular classic Sci-Fi series "Lost in Space." According to the trade paper, the new "Carrie" will be produced by MGM Television and the new "Lost in Space" will be produced by 20th Century Fox Television.

Both projects are currently in pre-production and so far only the scripts have been ordered. Variety speculated that both projects may end up being "up in the air" though. Personally, I'm not sure how well a re-make of "Lost in Space" would do since the 1998 feature film version of the cult classic was a disappointment.
