Buffy the Vampire Slayer News

It looks like Anthony Stewart Head, who portrays Buffy's Watcher Giles, on the popular series won't be a regular character in the fall. According to the Sci-Fi Wire, the actor confirmed that, when the series heads to UPN next season, Giles will be come a recurring character.

Head's future plans include spending time with his family in England and a BBC series entitled Manchild, a series that Head says is like the "male equivalent of Sex and the City", co-starring Nigel Havers, Don Warrington [Red Dwarf] and Ray Sturges.

There will be other changes ahead for the popular Vampire series, although what they will be remains unknown as yet. As does the possibility of a 'Giles spin-off' series, which would be both filmed and set in England.

Star Trek News

According to the Official Star Trek site, STNG stars Brent "Data" Spiner and Jonathan "Riker" Frakes visited the set of the new Paramount series, Enterprise. The two veteran Star Trek actors reportedly offered the new Captain, Scott Bakula, some advice on the "tricky" technobabble from the Star Trek universe and on Star Trek in general.

The two STNG cast members were reportedly impressed with the new uniforms, which have, according to the news report on the site, a looser "look and natural fibres that breathe".

According to the Project Quantum Leap site, UPN may premiere Enterprise in August. Although, there is no official word on that and some stations are stating that the series will debut in October.

X-Files News

According to the Sci-Fi Wire, David Duchovny won't be returning for the ninth season of the hit Sci-Fi/Paranormal series. Duchovny made the statement while talking to members of the press to promote his latest film entitled Evolution. He reportedly said that he didn't think that it was fair to fans or him, although he did say that he was still interested in another X-Files movie.

In other Sci-Fi News

The advertising company, TN Media, in their Primetime fall season preview report (which is based on the strength of the program and the timeslot), has reportedly come up with a mixed success forecast for the upcoming season. According to The Hollywood Reporter, among the shows that the report believes will be successful are UPN's Enterprise and WB's Smallville. Among the least successful of the new Sci-Fi shows are CBS' Wolf Lake and The Tick from FOX.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lois and Clark's John Shea will portray the lead role in the new Tribune Entertainment Co. series Mutant X. Produced by Fireworks Entertainment in association with Tribune and Marvel Studios, Mutant X will be a weekly action series. The new series is set to launch in the fall.
