Earth 2 - A look BackI remember the first time I heard about Earth 2. I had been flipping through my TV Guide and I saw this article about a new Sci-Fi series that had been coming to NBC. I read the article and thought to myself 'Cool...sounds like my kind of show. Gotta remember to watch it.' I did remember to watch it...but to my consternation, there was a basketball game on and it had run over its time. I shook my head and waited. Half an hour later...I got to see the premiere episode of Earth 2. That was way back in 1994. That two-hour episode was entitled "First Contact" it aired on November 6th 1994. It starred Debrah Farentino as Devon Adair, Antonio Sabato Jr. as Alonzo Solace, Jessica Steen as Dr. Julia Heller and Joey Zimmerman as Uly Adair. It also starred J. Madison Wright as True Danziger, Sullivan Walker as Yale, John Gegenhuber as Morgan Martin, Rebecca Gayheart as Bess Martin and Clancy Brown as John Danziger. The series, set some 200 years into the future, told the story of one woman's dream to save her son and others like him who had been diagnosed with the "syndrome". The "syndrome" was caused by the sterile conditions of the space stations that mankind was forced to live on because of the inhabitability of Earth and the lack of the things Earth had provided such as fresh air and fresh water. In her effort to save her son, Ulysses, Devon spearheaded an expedition, entitled the Eden Project, to a distant world known as G889, which she believed could offer mankind a clean start and a chance for those children with the "syndrome" to live a full and happy life. However, all doesn't go as planned. The advance team crash land on the planet only to find that their supplies have either been stolen or destroyed and that they aren't as alone as they thought. Thus begins the team's arduous journey toward New Pacifica, the place that was to have been the landing site. Along the way the encounter the mysterious alien race called the Terrians. A race of bipeds that travel through the earth, the Terrians are very much in tune with the planet around them and they communicate via a dream plane. But, the Terrians and the various other creatures from the planet were the least of the team's problems on the journey to their new home. Internal conflicts, and at times the lack cooperation, continuously threatened to divide the team as they struggled to survive on a strange world.
