The WB Network made a statement on their site regarding the news later the same day stating that they would continue to "develop successful, innovative programming" geared to young adults and teenagers. In another statement on April 24th, the WB stated that they had "negotiated strongly" to keep Buffy on the network, but in the end 20th Century FOX Television's price was just "too high" for them to pay. They also stated that they would keep "Buffy.com going" for as long as the series was still on the network and invited fans to let them know what they thought. In Babylon 5 News Babylon 5's original creative team has re-teamed for the upcoming Babylon 5 telefilm from the Sci-Fi Channel Babylon 5: The Legend of the Rangers, which is set to begin production on May 17th. According to the Sci-Fi Wire, David Netter and B5 creator J. Michael Straczynski will return as executive producers and Straczynski wrote the script. Additionally, the director of two of the three Babylon 5 feature length telefilms, "In the Beginning" and "A Call to Arms", Michael Vejar will take the directorial helm. Of the original cast, so far, it looks like only Andreas Katsulas will be on tap for the new film. He reprises his role as G'Kar. According to the Associated Press, CNN Headline News has hired actress turned reporter Andrea Thompson, best known as Talia Winters on Babylon 5 and Jill Kirkendall on NYPD Blue, as an anchorwoman. The April 24th article cited a CNN executive who wanted to remain anonymous as the source for the news. On April 25th, a spokesperson for CNN confirmed that Thompson had been hired. Thompson is slated to start on air in late June. In Xena: Warrior Princess News Xena star Lucy Lawless will make a cameo in Sam Raimi's upcoming film Spiderman. It appears that the actress will play a Punk Rocker. In Star Trek News It seems that, according to Variety, Paramount is set to announce that the new Star Trek series will air on UPN. Variety also reportedly confirmed that the series is 'tentatively' entitled "Enterprise". The new series may air in the fall. In Other Sci-Fi TV News According to the Comics Continuum, Bruce Timm, Animated Producer on Batman Beyond, told them that his upcoming series, Justice League, will be going for a "more realistic look" in the background scenery of Earth and that it'll be done in much the "same style" as both the Batman Beyond and Superman series. Both Mark Hamill (The Star Wars Trilogy) and Clancy Brown (Earth 2 and Starship Troopers) will both be coming back as the Joker and Lex Luthor in the new animated. Go To Page: 1 2
